Why ?
Here in Martinique, we have a really huge sailing area and we just love to go fast, real fast :) Addicted to Speed! I have been sailing very frequently on the Falcon until now and was very curious to see how the Ray would compete on perfectly flat water, as well as on choppy water.
Overall the Ray 110 is a great Freerace board with the abilities and performance of a pure Slalom board, whilst being more accessible, so no need to be an expert. Though slightly less nervous and reactive than the Falcon, the Ray offers a much more comfortable ride, especially when conditions get rough. The
Ray delivers an excellent top-end speed with the original fin it is delivered. This top-end speed can be even further improved with a specific high-end custom made fin (Deboichet SL2 38cm for instance), but then you’ll probably be asking for a break and sheet out a bit! Yes, it is possible to fly on water! Being slightly narrower than the Falcon, the Ray remains super comfortable and forgiving in the jibes, letting you enjoy the thrill without after thoughts, so really a great sportif performance board that will give you a lot of fun in many different conditions and spots. Favourite Move: My favourite move is the “no move”: go straight, fast and faster than your friends. If it’s too fast for you, maybe you’re too old. Sheet in or go home !.
Best Wind: 12 to 25 knots
Best Sails: North Ram F9 6,8m2 (2009) and Neil Pryde RSR 7,2m², but works also fine with 7,8m²
Trim Tips: none, that’s the great thing about it. Jump on and make some smoke on the water.
