Favourite Board: Free Wave 86
Why? I am 90 kilos and I use this board for “lighter” wind conditions. This board is so perfect for the flat and choppy water of the Bay of Essaouira - the top end speed is high for a wave board it is fast to get planing. It is easy going upwind, and has very good balance to cross the gusts and the drops of the wind in Essaouira.
It’s also a great board for wave riding in light to medium wind on our wave spot at Moulay Bouzerktoun. Again quick planing, really good acceleration to cross the waves, easy to control in the air, which allows you amazing jumps and good carving to surf front side at the wonderful spot of Moulay. It is powerful on the bottom turns and carves well with a nice cutback on the top of the wave. The perfect one for all boards. You should try it and you will love it!
Favourite Move: Lay Down Bottom Turn
Best Wind: 13 - 20 knots
Ideal Sail: NEILPRYDE Alpha 5.8/5.4 and sometimes Combat 5.0
Trim Tips: Position the front straps inboard and the back straps the second hole plug starting from the back. I need my front straps maximum forward as my legs are very long! 45cm between straps. Mastfoot 130-132 cm max (from tail). The standard fin is just perfect for this board and the G10 is not afraid of rocks! The perfect rental fin - any knocks just easily sand away! I like my harness lines 28 inches.
