Trim Tips: Put the daggerboard down before you set off!

While on our last Tour Operator Info trip in Kos, I finally got the chance to try windsurfing and get truly on-board ! After all of the the things I had been told : “ at your age, starting windsurfing ….it is much too hard, too physical, you’ll never learn it, just give kiting a try instead, …”, I was truly amazed about how well it worked out. I must say that I had a fantastic instructor who explained to me step by step how it goes and what this whole thing was about. Quite simple to understand really !
After only 15 minutes on land, I got on the water just in front of the station, where the wind is light and the water perfectly flat. I was given a Viper 85, and one of those North Drive Superlights, and I sure know where the name comes from. The board was so stable (once I remembered to put the daggerboard down) that I could concentrate freely on the wind, and I never felt I had to use any strength to get the sail out of the water.
In my first 10 minutes, I managed to sail out, make a U turn and come back to the beach from where I left, falling only once; then I learned immediately the faster tack and I simply had a tremendous time and an unexpected lot of fun !

So here I go, I’m addicted (not hooked yet but these harnesses look good to me too) and I can’t wait to give it another try: same equipment, same spot, longer and faster on the water, my plan is made, I am going to ride on !
