New Wave Team Edition Twin Fin
For Christmas and the new year, FBC tested for you (and for our utmost pleasure) TWO toys in one go: welcome to 2010 and new fantastic decade of windsurfing!
Name: Jean Seb Lavocat
FBC Center: FBC ST MARTIN
Favourite Boards: Fanatic NewWave Twin TE 72 and 79 (2010)
Why?: Because there is nothing better than riding waves, any wave, and to ride it the way you want and enjoy it to the full ! I was already super stoked of the first generation of Fanatic Twins but I must say that when I received my boards (and the new North Sails Code Blackberry rigs that go along), I just felt the richest guy in the world: the 2010 Twins are pure jewels !
When Victor (Fernandez) came last March here in St Martin for the Wave Show, he already had some prototypes with him and we discussed at lengths both 2009 and 2010 shapes, agreeing on all points and fine tuning changes to bring to the shape.
Well, it all came true and the result is simply incredible !

Basically, the shape became a touch wider, with a slightly less rounded deck, a slightly straighter scoop, a little bit more volume further forward with an even thinnerand more radical tail. What was hard to imagine before I actually got the boards is how harmonious the general outline and rocker line would become, super smooth !
With the 2010 version, you really have a terrific engine under your feet, compact, light, noticeably earlier to plane than in the past and boards that pretty much guarantee a clean ride on every wave. As for the look, a bit more colours than last year make the boards even sexier and the finishing is as beautiful as a Custom board. Merry Christmas everybody !
Down here in St Martin, we are lucky to sail all year, with different wind and wave directions and some swells that vary a lot in size and power, a great all round training arena where you need one board (Hmmm, OK, in my case 2 ) that will allow you to push your limits while not failing you. The Fanatic NewWave Twins do exactly that, and the best is that they remain super accessible. I have seen a serious amount of wave novices giving the board a try and not feeling impaired by two small fins to get planning, sail upwind or anything else, but who could suddenly do real nice turns on the face of the wave for the first time – an addicting feeling hard to find anywhere else.
As far as I am concerned, I will not go back to single fins. Never ever.
These Twins are certainly some of the very finest boards ever produced, radical and accessible, delivering enormous fun and sensations in pretty much any conditions.
Don’t under-estimate yourself, this board IS for you too !
Again, big BIG thanks guys, the new decade starts like a dream !!!

Favourite Move: Big lay-down bottom turns, snappy cutbacks, Goiters and Rodeo flips re-entry. And fat stalled loops once in while.
Best wind: 14 to 22 Knots for the Twin 79, 17 to 30 Knots for the Twin 72 !
Ideal sail: Ice Code Blackberry 5,0m² and 5,3m² for the Twin 79 (5,7m² works also fine). Ego Code Blackberry 4,5m² and Ice Code Blackberry 5,0m² for the Twin 72 (smaller works for sure perfect too but I didn’t get to test the board with smaller than 4,5m²).
Trim Tips: That’s one thing that hasn’t changed since last year: Mastfoot 2/3 of the way forward, jump on, step in, get flying, ride hard and enjoy!
I’ll see you on the water at the Galion !!
