Hawk 110

Why? The Hawk 110 is a very good board for blasting along in basically any wind conditions - for me it’s the fastest board in the Fanatic range that we have at FBC Kos, and it performs well in all conditions, even when the chops get bigger and rougher.

It carves smoothly and it’s very easy to initiate the jibe, whether you are an expert sailor or just enjoy cruising and free riding. You really feel that it gets on the plane fast compared to last year’s 108, the wider shape could be the reason. It also keeps speed well through any lulls.

The Hawk 110 is stable when you come off of the plane and easy to uphaul if needed (you just never know!). Eventhough it does not have a very big fin it manages to stay upwind. When powered up, it shows its real character and can compete with more slalom oriented shapes, both in top end speed and upwind.
The foot pad and strap positions are much better and more comfortable than last year too, so I am just one of many at the center whose has the Hawk as their favourite choice throughout the summer.

Favourite move:  One handed carving 360 – old classics never die!

Best Wind:  20 knots +/- 5 knots

Ideal Sail: 6.6 x-type

Trim Tips: I like my straps in the outer position which helps to squeeze out as much speed as possible. I have the mast foot quite far forward to keep the board nice and flat helping to control the kit when overpowered. The standard fin (36) is perfect for sails up to 7.8.
