The One Board Solution: A day in the life of the Fanatic SUP All Wave 9'2''.
It is true that I have in my quiver a Fanatic SUP 12'6'' Fly race, an All Wave 9'2'', a Pro Wave 8'6'', and also some windsurfing boards (Skate 100l, a Skate TE 89L and a Quad TE 75L) but that means choosing the right board for the right conditions. They all have their own place and ideal conditions to excel.
My SUP All Wave 9'2'' is however my do it all board … when I am not sure I just grab it and have fun. This was the day just for that, one of many which just puts a big grin on your face all day long !
It started with a flat water paddle as the sun came up. Not always easy to find someone to take pictures this time of the morning but certainly worth getting up for. The board is so stable and paddles really well, so you can do some warm up exercises and practice fast turns, the best way to wake up.

Lunchtime saw a small wave on the beach, so it was back in again to have a play. All the shaping on the board is for making everything easy, catching waves, turning, going down the line, this whether you have some decent sized powerful waves or some small mushy beach break. Generally the board is super stable and catching waves is really easy. It turns well when standing in a more forward position, especially when using the paddle, and when you are on the tail, due to the large kick tail it turns even faster and tighter. Sometimes faster than you so watch out and keep up.

As the tide reaches its highest point, it is time to go back to the center for a little break.
4.30 pm and no people on the water anymore so it is time to hit the water again, this time with a sail. Now this is fun. Old school, new school this board just does it all.

On a wave it is just amazing and I keep being surprised by the overall speed of the board and turns: it is just so snappy ! It catches waves so easily, even with little wind, I did not have to pump to get on the wave, the board tracks really well, accelerates and holds her speed.

Big wave, small wave, light wind, strong wind. It really does not matter. This is the one board solution to have fun on pretty much any day here in Lanzarote.
Any special set up or trimming tips? Well there is none, apart from I have the center fin as far forward as it will go. It’s so simple.

Best sail size? My new North Sails 2012 Hero 4m² of course, light and powerful, perfect for a SUP !
Do you need a harness? No in fact all you need is a pair of board shorts and a top. Enjoy !
