The spot at Galion Bay is a protected natural reserve where it is forbidden to use motor boats and therefore kite instruction cannot be offered with the highest standards of safety. Locals and private kiters can use the downwind side of the bay for their free practice, but overall, one tries to limit the amount of kiters on this spot.
There is another kite center (CNS) in Orient Bay but the spot is unfortunately saturated by the neighbour hotels guests, as well as too many water sports offered in the same area (windsurfers, jet skis, boats etc).>
To overcome these problems, FBC St. Martin now works in co-operation with DAG Kite owned by Dominique Dagoreau, to offer professional kitsurfing instruction off site. Guests are transported from the center to “Little Kay” just 5 minutes away - a sandy spit curled around a rock, protected from waves and offering standing areas with no stones or current so ensuring perfect safety. The spot is a dream teaching spot for all kiter wanabees and instructors! Certificate / Licenses - FBC St. Martin is an FFVL affiliated center which means that they teach to international recognized standards and can issue official kite licenses.
Equipment - Boards – F-One – current range
- Kites – EH Cabarete – new generation flat kites sizes from 5.5m2 - 12.0m2
Courses – Two sessions per day are offered, with not more than 4 people per course. All courses include equipment and safety cover.
Discovery & Progression : 3 x 3 hours - €285
Entry level to first water starts. The first session (beach) is made at the center, the other (body drag) in Little Kay.
