Lanzarote is situated just 120km off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. Formed as a result of volcanic activity about 15 million years ago, it is 70km long and 20km wide with around 300 volcanoes! In 1992 it was declared as part of the World Biosphere Reserve and therefore under the protection of UNESCO. The island has a mild and sunny climate all year round with a truly unique light and spectrum of colours.

There is huge scenic diversity here, on one hand strange rock formations and an almost lunar volcanic landscape - on the other fantastic wide golden or black sandy beaches pounded by perfect waves - real contrast and diversity everywhere you go. You can't imagine that anything could grow here, but fine volcanic stones absorb moisture from the atmosphere and provide suitable conditions for various crops, and grape vines, which produce a very fine white wine!

FBC Lanzarote is situated at the beach of Las Cucharas in Costa Teguise on the north east of the island just 15 minutes drive from the airport. The conditions are fantastic - why else would the PWA hold their world cup freestyle event here every year?! Thanks to its location in the Atlantic Ocean it is a perfect setting for all addicted Boarders. The steady trade winds blow side-shore from the left and are most consistent during the summer (April-September), blowing regularly from 4-6bft. During the winter the wind is more changeable and can very in speed depending on the path taken by the depressions. The swell comes in at this time and transforms the island and her spots. The bay is sheltered by jetties and so an ideal area for beginners. Outside there is a shallow reef to the left where waves can easily reach 2-3 metres. Wave freaks and freeriders really are in for a treat.

Costa Teguise has a huge variation in both the quality and type of food available and all tastes are catered for. The standard of accommodation is extremely high and ranges from 4 and 5 star hotels to simple self-catering accommodation. Everything is within easy reach, and all you need is in walking distance. However, we really do recommend hiring a car to take in some of the breathtaking eco-tourist attractions

Except for the 3 main tourist areas (Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca) Lanzarote remains free of billboard advertising and high rise buildings and the houses retain a unique island style of white with green shutters thanks to César Manrique Cabrera, a local hero and inhabitant of the island until 1992 who felt he had to transform the island before the increasing amount of tourists disfigured it irreversibly. Wise man.

There is so much to do on this island in terms of sports and attractions for families, singles, couples…everybody! The Iron Man Triathlon is held here every year, but if that seems a bit much what about some other sports available all over the island - parasailing, diving, golf, trekking (based at FBC Lanzarote), mountain biking, surfing, kiting….we dare you to be bored! Lanzarote is literally bursting with wave spots and TOP surf conditions all over the island. Warm clear waters and ideal weather conditions make it the perfect destination for pleasure seekers. Just a few hours by plane, Lanzarote is waiting to be re-discovered. See it with fresh eyes.

The Aquarium - dive with sharks!

Mirador Del Rio - a view to die for.

Timanfaya National Park - 50 sq. km of volcanic landscapes, tubes and craters which will fascinate you no end.

Jameos del Agua - lava tube with a natural concert hall, subterranean lagoon, restaurant and museum.
