FBC St. Martin is the home of the SMX Waterboys and Watergirls surf club, which was formed by the owner Jean Seb and produces young surf champions all over the Caribbean. His certified surf school offers quality services in a natural environment of contrast & beauty. The surf spot is situated 400m from the shore, where waves roll over the relatively deep reef. A large channel were the waves don’t break offers the possibility to easily reach the line up (peak). FBC St. Martin has ideal conditions for complete beginners as well as for the most advanced and addicted of surfers!

For beginners, it’s basically perfect to surf all year long. The instructors will always keep you informed of the weather, and lessons will be moved if conditions are not suitable for your level. For the more experienced the months of March to September give the most beautiful waves and the strongest on the north /east side of St. Martin. Water temperatures are 26 to 28° all year, air temperatures from 24 to 35° - pretty perfect conditions.

On top of this, the club’s catamaran – a brand new 24m² platform - brings the surfers to the reef in full security and without wasting any precious paddling energy. The boat is big enough for family and friends so that they can take photos or videos in comfort and style while discovering this sport, the action being only a few meters away.

The orientation of the swell offers different surf spots on the north/east side of the island. For the most advanced, a daily phone briefing is made before people meet directly at the club to pick up the equipment and go to the best suited surf spot of the day, some of them truly challenging. Here are a few names of the best spots to tempt you and make your dream surf day come true: Wilderness/The Bowl/Galion Reef/Green Kay/Secret Spot/Little Kay/Coralita/Creole Rock/Friars Bay/Plum Bay/Mullet Bay/Cuppeoy/Beacon Hill/Tintamarre. Enough surf spots to last you all year!

Equipment - NSP surf boards, boards made of epoxy which are perfectly suitable to beginners and the more experienced. The club owns more than 25 surf boards, Long boards (South Point) from 10 feet to short boards, fish tails and other mini malibus.

Courses

Surf tuition is available for all children from the age of 6 (after having checked their swimming skills), every morning and afternoon, following the strict standards of the National French Surfing Association (FFS). Various courses are offered including 6 day courses with FFS surf passport given at the end of the course.

Certificate / Licences

FBC St. Martin is an FFS affiliated center which means that they teach to internationally recognized standards and can issue official surf licenses.
