BC St. Martin is proud to offer windsurfing, kitesurfing and surfing instruction by fully qualified team members. The equipment on offer, the conditions, and the transport available means that you will always be taught in optimum learning conditions for your level and aspirations.

TEACHING CONDITIONS

FBC St. Martin really has something to offer all levels of windsurfer. The wind blows side onshore from the left or right depending on the time of year. The wind is quite strong in the morning, drops between 12.00 and 15.00 giving a chance for lunch and the entry level lessons, and then picks up again and peaks right through until sunset. The sailing area is a 1km wide sandy lagoon with some standing areas, protected by an outer reef about 400m from the shore. The water in the lagoon is warm, flat and safe – a perfect learning environment for beginners as well as fantastic freeride and freestyle conditions for intermediates to advanced. The reef offers superb wave riding opportunities with breaking waves between 1-3m and the owner Jean Seb will take great pleasure in teaching you in the waves.

The spot is a protected natural reserve where it is forbidden to use motor boats and therefore kite instruction cannot be offered with the highest standards of safety. Locals and private kiters can use the downwind side of the bay for their free practice, but overall, one tries to limit the amount of kiters on this spot. To overcome these problems, FBC St. Martin now works in co-operation with DAG Kite owned by Dominique Dagoreau, to offer professional kitsurfing instruction off site. Guests (max 4 per course) are transported from the center to “Little Kay” just 5 minutes away - a sandy spit curled around a rock, protected from waves and offering standing areas with no stones or current so ensuring perfect safety. The area is a dream teaching spot for all kiter wanabees and instructors!

The surf spot is situated 400m from the shore at the reef. A large channel were the waves don’t break offers the possibility to easily reach the line up (peak). FBC St. Martin has ideal conditions for complete beginners as well as for the most advanced and addicted of surfers! For beginners, it’s basically perfect to surf all year long. The instructors will always keep you informed of the weather, and lessons will be moved if conditions are not suitable for your level. For the more experienced the months of March to September give the most beautiful waves and the strongest on the north /east side of St. Martin, with several other challenging spots close by.

LANGUAGES - Courses are held by a team of qualified instructors in English, French, Italian and Spanish.
